Socceroos' Series Against Brazil Preview with Brisbane Football Review

And I know, Adam, you've got a couple of points you want to make, but we'll. We'll park you just for now. We'll get your thoughts initially on this series against Brazil. Two friendlies in Townsville on Friday 25th September, and then on the following Tuesday here in Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium. Scott, how excited are you? I'm. I can't wait for this. This is absolutely fantastic to see the national team back here in Queensland for the first time in, well, it's like quite a while, but they were on the Gold coast about two years ago now, so we are seeing them a little bit more regularly. But having this series here in Queensland in Townsville first season back down here in Brisbane. It's going to be absolutely sensational, these two games.

Of course, I'll help the town till later in the week, but seeing the national team in Queensland's always a fantastic thing from our perspective. But there's just such a buzz about them at the moment after what they did at the World Cup. To do what they did, how well they played and the excitement people are getting around this young group of players, to see them here in Queensland is going to be quite special. Yeah, that's for sure. And particularly the homecoming of our only Premier League player at the moment in the form of Lucas Harrington, of course, a Brisbane Raw alumni and probably one of our best defensive prospects in a very, very long time. But Adam, I'll throw to you. How are you feeling about this series? Oh, look, this first time in a long time that I've actually been genuinely excited for a.

3:47 For a Socceroos friendly like again, you know, it's always. You always want to see the national team do well, but there's a genuine vibe and interest in this because look, it is Brazil. Yeah. Even though they may be a waning world power, depending on where you look at it, they're still Brazil. And there is a big Brazilian community that I know absolutely amped up and ready to see that it's a. It's a change of the guard somewhat after. After what they would say was a failure in. In North America, but which we'll discuss later on. But again, genuinely, I think the series, especially up here in Brisbane, it's going to be great. In Townsville, first time they're going to see international football as well in the heart of what is usually rugby league country. So let's see how it goes there.

4:37 But then. And then it'll be a massive game on next Tuesday night. A big sellout, or close to a sellout as it stands as we record. It's going to be. It's going to be a massive atmosphere. Definitely. And let me throw a little jab at the North Queensland Cowboys. I'm sure a lot of their fans will be, well, looking forward to something because the Cowboys absolutely bottled their season against Cowboy slander. Thank you very much. Against a very poor Cronulla Sharks. But that is the wrong podcast. Alex, how dare you. Get back to the topic at hand. And Liam Parzo will also enjoy that slander as well, which is very rich coming from me as a West Tigers fan.

Folks, now let's move on to the squad selections before I dig this hole any deeper. A late withdrawal, of course. Motore was initially named in squad and has dislocated his shoulder right after scoring a goal in the first minute for Norwich at the weekend. Terrible news but he's replaced by one of the more divisive figures in the national team set up in Nishan Voluple. So not a direct like for like replacement which is very interesting.

5:59 And then you've got Alex Robertson who has also pulled out due to load management according to one of the Cardiff based journalists who followed that question up as well. So a little bit interesting there. Of course Alex Robinson has been named in a few squads in recent times, actually hasn't got onto the pitch or very limited amounts of football. But maybe if I start with you Scott with the Motore news. Obviously very devastating, isn't it a tremendous shame. The form that he is in to start the year for Norwich City is absolutely sensational. We did see he was linked to moves away in the transfer window. He ended up staying in Norwich but he has been in red hot form up front for them and it would have been fantastic to see him up front for Australia. The replacement is interesting as well. Voluplay coming in. So if you thought that experiment experiment was over after the situation against the US in the World cup, unfortunately you are incorrect because he's still in his play as you said, one of the more divisive figures out there because I think a lot of people would have preferred other players to be called up. I think it's interesting it's a winger who's replaced him as well and it kind of leads towards what Tony Popovich said in his post World cup press conference about a month or so ago now where he fronted the media in Sydney and was asked about the future Nestry Nestry Aaron Kunder and he said he can see him ending up moving playing more centrally as as his career goes on and I wonder if he will now play more centrally in this series once again. I know a lot of people were hoping we'd see him back on the wing in this series after it didn't quite work in the World Cup.

7:31 I kind of think we're going to see him playing through the middle alongside Tessa Yangi. So that might be the what, what what we end up seeing. But no, Motore is a Real shame. And I was really looking forward to seeing Alex Robertson as well because he's a midfielder that we don't have too many of. There's not a lot of players like that that we produce in terms of progressive midfielders. So that would have been a really nice impact to see what he can do in that midfield. But unfortunately that's gonna have to wait. Yeah, definitely. And I just want to. Excuse me, add to that point, Scott. You know Alex Robertson, I'm a massive fan. He's playing a lot deeper at Cardiff City now as a holding midfielder. Of course, traditionally he's played as a number eight and a number 10. Did play a bit of six or holding midfielder at, in his junior years at Manchester City in their academy. But he is a player that has the ability to break the lines with one pass and that's what we definitely need in, in terms of the way we play poppable.

8:29 So big shame to lose him. But we do have someone else that in that midfield area that I'm also excited to see. But we'll talk about that a little bit later. Adam Nestor and Kundas actually got his first start for Sporting Lisbon just on the weekend and he played on the left wing, I do believe. So I, I think we all probably expect him to play through the middle as Scott mentioned earlier. Yeah, I think he will. Not that I'm happy with that. I, as, as I said, I've been sitting up top of this show. I never want to see him play. Yeah. As a number nine ever again for the soccer roos. But maybe with the, the injury to motore you might, it might have to do again.

9:15 I do think that Tetiangi probably deserves, deserves his chance again. I think that especially you know, if they're going to play a lot more sort of counter attack football and, and, and whatnot and just having that, that drive through, through the sort of mill that, that, that target man as well. But overall, yeah, I think, I think again it might be a case of, you know, it might have to possibly be just a little bit longer with Iran Gunda. Yeah, in, in a, in a striking position rather on a wing. I think when we'll see the best of him is when, when you get the whole gang together of you know, of a toure, Iran Kunder and, and you know, whoever that, that third, that third wing is going to be, you sort of almost take your pick on who that would be.

9:59 And I think the most frustrating thing for us is the fact that there are quite a number of number nine options out There now that are playing at a decent level overseas. In fact, he could have went left field and got someone like Locky Rose in this squad. I know it's probably not one that we'd all agree on, but again, a player that's playing pretty well in Scotland and scoring goals and you know, he's actually usurped Zach Sapsford, who I'm a big fan of in that Dundee United squad. So yeah, I don't know Scott, where did you want to go with that one? Well, there were a lot of options he did want a pure center for, weren't there? Of course, Lock hero, Zack Sapphire, Zach Samson. He did just mention you've also got John Idaho scoring a bunch of goals in career at the moment as well. So they're going to go left field. There's another one as well in addition to the two young guys in the mls, Luki Ivanovich and Archie Goodwin over there. So there were options. You could have gone for even Arzani and Marco Till. You have had great starts all year as wingers, so you could have looked at them as well even as a replacement for Robertson. So there were plenty of options. That's the one thing you look at now with the Australians.

11:07 I remember we did that show at the beginning of the European League season. There's so many players over there now playing at a good level and that's what makes it so difficult to pick a national team squad now there's, there's. It's almost not who do we pick, it's who do you leave out and there's that many to choose from and you could have found half dozen strikers to replace Place Motore. In the end he's gone for another winger. So it's interesting how it will pan out. Yeah, it's actually funny. I was just. I just remember seeing something on Football360 this afternoon was post about two hours ago as we record and sort of to the options as far as Australia's strikers that are out there at the moment and also Teddy Yankees in the squad. But then the cap players are out there at the moment. Adam Taggett, Brandon Barillo, Cassini, Yangi is is out there.

11:52 Nick d', Agostino, John Iredale as Scott mentioned, Denny Urich and Apostleopoulos and then the uncapped players. You've got Locky Rose, Ante Suto, Zach Susten, Noah Bottage, Lucas Smith, Max Caputo, Luka Yovanovic and Archie Goodwin. So that's all the options that I had and for some reason, well, I Think we know the reason in a way. Poppich has gone with Nishan Blue. Yep. Because he wants to play Nestry through the middle. That is the short fantasy did score for inat last week. Yes. So there you go. There you go. Bringing goal scoring form into camp. Exactly.

12:36 But I dare say he didn't play as a number nine. Although I could be wrong about that. And I probably should have done my research before the show on that one. You got to watch my third division German football, Alex. I do, I do. If anyone knows where I can get a straight. I mean a legal means of watching that, let me know. Moving right along. So that's not. That's not on what's his name's YouTube channel, is it? Oh, the. Yeah, the Man United fan. Goldberg, whatever he's saying. No, no, don't talk about him. Please don't talk about him. Sorry, what's. What's that? Move on.

13:19 We'll. We'll move along. We'll move along. That's okay. Thanks, Adam. So. So yeah, in total, seven potential debutant in this squad. So there is a bit of a refresh there. There's. In total there's nine players that didn't go to the World cup and including two that were sadly injured before the World cup in the form of Riley McGree and Patrick Yazbeck, who is the player I was alluding to earlier in regards to potentially taking that spot that Alex Robertson may have had in this squad. Another interesting one is boss in, boss out, Casey Boss, he gets a spot and I guess he's probably the most natural successor to his brother, as weird as that sounds a more defensive option in that left wing back role, but he's starting to get some minutes of the excelsior building towards it. There was a bit of talk in the Netherlands saying that it might be too soon this. This international window for him, but he has been selected. So I mean Adam, I guess it's a good chance to look at Casey and see how he's developed since he's been at Europe despite it being a very injury plagued time for him.

14:30 I did actually hear once upon a time where both, both Casey and Jordy were here that the scouts actually thought that Casey would be the better of the two brothers. So it's very, very interesting that 11 replace the age. Especially given the meteoric ride that the Jordy boss has had in the for the Socceroos and what viral part he is. And then they're gonna, they're gonna miss him. There's no doubt about but look, having. Having his. His brother there in that spot plays a very similar natural position. Look, it's probably a good thing in a way, but. But again, I do. I do agree that maybe it might be a little bit too soon. But then again, we said that about certain other players in this squad before, before the World cup and see how it turned out. Sometimes you've got to roll the dice and I think it's probably. It's probably a good one to roll dice on.

15:23 Yeah, for sure. I think it's probably. In terms of when we say it's too soon and what the reports were, I think it's just due to. Due to his fitness and building towards that. I don't think there's any doubting the talent in Casey Boss. If he's even half the player. The potential we've seen with his brother for that left side is going to be very, very good. And it's also, I should say it is a wonderful opportunity for him to get under Aziz Bay's wing, much like his brother did at Melbourne City all those years ago in the A League. So wonderful opportunity there. But it would also be remiss of us not to discuss the big outs in between the sticks. Matt Ryan not selected in the squad. Paul is, though, and Patrick beach, of course. Well, Patrick beach of course selected. Paul Izzo selected even though he just sort of is in the squad and never plays. Jacob Chapman comes in as the third goalkeeper. He started the season quite well at St Mirren and has had to do the rounds in lower tiers of English football to get this opportunity. So it's a wonderful chance for him.

16:28 Whether we see him on the field is another story. But Scott, I might throw to you on Matt Ryan and whether you think this, this might be the end and whether it is a little bit disrespectful from Tony Popovich in regards to leaving Matt Ryan out of this squad, I find it hard to believe it is the end. It's hard to see him going from being the goalkeeper that Turnpoff was trusted the most in the penalty shootout back in June. So now he's being completely discarded, never to return. I think we will see him back. I think we will see him back actually in November. I feel like this is just an opportunity to have a look at a couple of young golfers, including young Jacob Chapman, who's had quite the courage, you said over there in the uk after moving from Sydney at Huddersfield for a bunch of years, made that move up to Scotland and you have to think he's looking at that thinking that this move has been the best thing that I could ever have done because he's now playing regularly in that league and now he's in the soccer squad. But with Matt Ryan, I'm sure he's going to be back. I mean you look at for the Asian Cup. It's very clear Australia want to go to the Asian cup and win the tournament. Having Matt Ryan there as a goalkeeping option makes perfect sense for that in a short term capacity.

17:34 His experience is invaluable. I'm sure personally he wants to try and break that cap record. I'm not sure how many games away he is from breaking that record, but I'm sure that's on his agenda to get to that point. So I don't think he'll be announcing his retirement anytime soon and I think there's still a spot for him in that national team. He is playing in La Liga. Let's not forget he's one of a handful of players we have playing in a top five league. So we shouldn't be just discarding that just because Patrick beach had an amazing World cup and he's now playing in France. But obviously he's going to get the first chance. Patrick beach. But I'm sure Matt Ryan will be back in the squad at some stage. Yeah. And I mean an alternative view to that is of course Matt Ryan does have a young family at the moment so potentially he could have asked Tony as well. Why bring him out here if you're not going to play him. Exactly. Yeah. So there you go.

18:22 That's the other side of the coin. If you like. A couple of other interesting call ups, I guess Keely Adamson there as a potential solution to that right wing back problem he's starting. It looks like he's slowly making his way into that QPR lineup, getting regular minutes there. So it's wonderful to see. So another one. We should keep an eye out for Scott or Adam. Any, anyone else we got our eye on or excited to. To see in this squad. I actually think Marcus Eunice might be a very, very shrewd call up as well. I think he's, he's had a very had Ron B in Denmark. We saw what he did he saw. He did when he came out here on loan for, for Melbourne City in the, in the last season as well. Obviously a Western Sydney junior. He's been going very, very well. So again I think his core will be very interesting. Also Dylan, Dylan Leonard as well.

19:22 He, he got, he got the move the Loan move out of Shulpa to play for Armani Ashton in in Germany. So I think I think a few more minutes than he would have probably at Schalke so probably reward for getting getting minutes there. So I think that's two players to watch certainly of the young cap I will leave the other obvious one for Scott because I know he wants to talk about him as well also. Yeah Dukely as well I think will be a be very interesting where he sort of fits in. Obviously of Adelaide sort of fame but he's also making his way in Europe as well. Now I will get to the player Adam wants to talk about. That's Eli Adams at the moment but firstly on Kelly Adamson.

20:04 He's had a fantastic 12 months over there really building his reputation in the championship now and I'm really looking forward to seeing how he goes because that right wing back spot it's still a problem area for Australia. Lewis Miller might be back for the Asian Cup. I'll have to wait and see. So there's an opportunity there for Keely to step in there and really tend to make that spot his own in the short term and become a real option in the squad. So that's really interesting. Yard Deoli I'm very excited to see as well. He's been playing regularly in Slovenia at a good club. They are not a club that Australians would necessarily think of but they were in the Champions League qualifiers. He was scoring in that phase of the competition playing regularly in the league. I'm excited to see how he goes. How he goes. That move kind of happened out of left field during the World Cup. None of us really saw that move coming so hopefully it seems to have gone really well for him. We'll see how it goes in the national team but I will now get to the player Adam. Also talk about Eli Adams. It's fantastic to see him playing in a national team after what he's done for Newcastle last year out of south of Squint and Thunder in Toowoomba. Seeing him potentially making his national national team debut either in Townsville or in Brisbane would be absolutely fantastic and he could bring something to the national team that we don't have too much of. He's really direct and quick and he's almost a bit like you're in corner in that respect but off the right hand side could be a real impact player for Australia. So I'm excited to see how he goes out there as well and I'll get I'll save my point later on between him, Eunice And De Coulee, but across the board, I'll be very excited to see how those three players fit into the national team this camp. Yeah, well, let's stay on it,

21:37 Scott. Let's. Let's continue with that point. Out of those three, Eunice, De Coulee and Adams, if we're to. If you're to pretend to be Tony Popovich, who do you think gets the most minutes out of them? Or does he try all three across these two games? Well, it's interesting, I think back to the Games 12 months ago against New Zealand, where he called up Bottic Milanovic and Sega Church, and I don't think any of them got any meaningful minutes. Maybe one of them got a handful of minutes off of the bench, but I don't think they got any real time with. Now that Adrian Sega just made a decision, you're going to represent somebody else, it feels like. So I'm very much hopeful that we don't see the same thing in this camp with Eunice, Adams and De Cooley, that they get caught up and we don't see them.

22:23 I'm pretty sure, given those six attackers there, that's half of them. I'm pretty sure we'll see some of them in some capacity. I'll be very interested to see who does get the first call. I personally think it will be Marcus Unis. He was so good for Melbourne City last year at the back end of the league to the point where there were legitimate questions of would he end up being called up into the World cup squad. He never even got into the. The training camp, so it didn't happen. But he's followed that form up in Denmark and to me, he would be the first player I think we'll see. But it wouldn't shock me if we see all three. Yeah, Yeah. I tend to agree. I think Eunice is the first one to get called up, given the form. But Tony Popovich isn't one to play biological all the time, as we've seen quite a lot, particularly in the last six to 12 months. But, Adam, what are your thoughts on these three? Do you think we see all three?

23:15 Is there one that you think gets first shot at in the starting lineup in Townsville? I think in Townsville, I think that all three, if they get. If they do get a cap, it'll be off the bench. I sort of feel like in game one up in Townsville that they'll go with the tried and true or as much as it can be with the relative inexperience in that is with Rank Bunda and Yengi. But I think maybe for game two in. In Brisbane I did. I dare say we might see at least one or three. I, I tend to agree with Scott though. I think Marcus is probably the. The most of those three. It probably was close enough to the. As far as you know the squad as far as you know getting that call up that where Dukely and Adams they. They. They're forced away in. Through. Through form.

24:09 Whereas I think use a lot more about potential and sort of has been a long time sort of tag to be in sort of in this role. So. But again either way I think there are exciting options. I think it's just fantastic to see that again we've gone from oh my God how we. We've got no. We've got no forwards where they scored. All of a sudden we've got embarrassment of riches almost and young players. So it will be. They could make the mark for years to come in the squad. Yeah, definitely. And that's. That's a really interesting point and we're starting to see a quite, quite an extensive depth chart as I think we've all discussed at this point. And Scott, I see you wanted to add something there. Just quickly we were just thinking about that front. We know that Connor Metcalfe and Nestria and Konran Tetiyengi are the most likely three. But where does Wiley McGree fit into this mix? Is he going to be a part of that central midfield pairing or is he going to be in that front three front three options and where he could very well end up being a potential player playing off of the left hand side. We need to know that Tony Popovich played him in that front third from time to time. That may very well be an additional option that we haven't necessarily considered. And if he's going to play in that front third, then all three of those young guys we were just talking about potentially making a debut, maybe they take a step back further down the pecking order. So that's something else to keep an eye on in this camp. Yeah, it is definitely. And you'd imagine McGree takes one of those spots in the front three, I would think. But it does lead me to ask you both a question and I guess Scott, we'll start with you since

25:41 you made the point. Do we see a change in shape from Tony Popovic? Do we see change in tactics? Does he experiment or does he stick with the tried and true? I think he'll experiment in terms of personal. He won't change the system. I Think he is very much now embedded in at this. What do you want to call it, a back three or back five with the, the holding midfielders then the three up front. However you want to define or describe that system on a sheet of paper. That's what he seems to really believe in suits this group of players and I don't anticipate him changing that particularly with the Asian cup on the horizon. So I expect to see that same formation in both of these games. It'll be tinkering around who, who fits where in that system over these two games will be worth tracking. I don't think he's going to change the system at all. I do, I do think we, we have, we haven't spoke. We've spoke about midfield and the attack I had defensively and the reason why we haven't mentioned because I think it's going to be business as usual.

26:34 I, I do think that it'll be the same three center back at the World cup. That and that and that would be a Harrington, Sutar and Ducati. And then I think where the variables are will be the, the. The fullbacks and I think that, I think that both, all three of those players I would expect to play a lot of minutes over two games. I reckon. I believe they'll probably, they should probably start but like Patrick beach as well. I think plays plays both games as well save maybe a late substitution depending on whether they do. But, but well Patrick Beach I expect to play 180 minutes down here and I think they get go then links into the point that Scott made before about Matt Ryan. I think if Patrick beach is playing his take play both games, what is the point of him bringing Matt Ryan out here? I think they might be better off keeping at home.

27:24 Let him, let him have rest up, you know and, and build his fall up again with Leante. So I do think yeah that as, as we said I think the, the goalkeeper and, and the, the center, the center backs, I think it's business as usual but I think there's a lot of intrigue about the midfield firstly and also as well who starts, who starts up front alongside Aaron Kunda and probably Yangi. Look, it's made. There's no guarantee that Yankee even starts. So yeah, yeah there were a lot of lessons learned in the World cup, wasn't there Alex? And it's more interesting to see what he takes from that and how he implements that in terms of the way we go forward, in terms of we want to be more assertive in the way we play and that's probably more what we want to see in terms of how he does that. I don't think it's going to be in terms of changing the system. So it'll be how he looks to do that with this group of players that be worth watching. Yeah, agreed. And. And whether we see as much of that in this series as we want to, I do highly question. Considering the quality of the opposition. The question for me probably comes more so in the next international window when we're playing guitar and Jordan. Thank you very much.

28:36 I had a little bit of a brain fade there for a minute, but when we play them and I guess the emphasis will be on us having the ball and looking to attack them, that's going to be the issue that I think we sort of saw at times in that World cup, particularly the Egypt game. In the knockout stage. We saw flashes of individual brilliance in the Paraguay game from Jordan. Boston looked like it might open up the game, but we have to find other ways of breaking down those low block defenses. And I think we learned that more so in the November window as opposed to this current window. I. I'm sure you both agree on that. Yeah, we're gonna have to do it by the time it gets the Asian cup, aren't we? We always know in the Asian cup the Chinese for Australia is to play on the front foot and to take the game on because everyone expects us to win the games, particularly in the group stage, new playing, some of the things will play. So, yeah, at some point we are going to have to flick that switch and I'd like to see him try that against Brazil just to see if they can do it against that level of opposition because we look comfortable at the World cup now being there. But we get to the knockout stage, we always have that thing of like, do we really belong here? It always feels like we take a step back into our shell and if we can show we can do it against Brazilian are friendly, it might give them confidence going forward, given it's still a young group. And this group will largely be the team we take to that World cup in 2030. So I'd like to see them try it.

29:58 But I tend to agree it'll probably be more November. Yeah, it looks like that. And. And if we do say it, it might be in a short spell of like 10 to 15 minutes. If we're down a couple of goals and we're trying to claw a result out of the game, it could be a perfect opportunity to see whether the. The boys are capable, capable of that. But so let's move on to the opposition and I know that Adam is our resident Brazilian expert out of the three of us. So I'm going to throw to him and I'm going to skip over a Finniverse Vinnie debate. I'm sure other podcasts will deal with that. Let's talk about the new keepers and Adam in particular. I think Oscar is the one that you mentioned to us in, in the group chat is the next starlet between the sticks for Brazil. Yeah. So the three, so three Brazilian Liga A keepers picked. So no Alison, no Edison in this. And the three keepers are Hugo Souza, Pedro Morisco and Ottavio. And the word is that.

31:10 And hopefully my Brazilian contacts listening to this as well and they'd be very, very complimentary of the research I've done. Tavio is. Seems to be the one that could be the next big thing as far as the belief as far as the keeper goes. 20 years old from the Cruzeiro he looks like he could be one for the future. And it could even be a fact that you know, they might split the game time in some form between all three of them across the two games or potentially one each game because of course Brazil do have an extra friendly in this window against India after the two games against Australia. Australia and I know Scott, I think you posed this question in the group chat the other day and I did Read this on Football360 that Australia did decide to only go with two friendlies in this window to have the good faith built up with the clubs. They'll release the players after the second game on Tuesday so they can go back to their clubs and work back so that when the Asian cup rolls around the clubs are hopefully a little bit more lenient with letting the boys go. So that that sort of answers that question potentially. But this Brazil squad, there's still stars of course we've got raf Rafinha, Vinnie Jr. Jao. Pedro was named but has pulled out with injury. Of course he didn't play for Chelsea last weekend. But in all 16 new players in this squad, only 10 remain from the World Cup.

So Adam, I guess a complete refresh by the looks of things for Brazil it Is and only two players over 30 as well, that being the captain and Doug Douglas, Douglas Sentos in the team. So it's again it does look like that. There's certainly a direction that Carlo Ancelotti wants to go, go down as far as at least for this series, these series against Australia and India, plus potentially the November series in Singapore against Japan and Singapore. So plenty, plenty of new faces, nine potential debutantes. But again there are stars as we said as you mentioned, Vinny Rafinha, two of the big names, Marquinhos from Parasite, Jamal the captain obviously he's probably the most well known of that.

I think Endrick and Rayan as well that you saw the Edrico of Real Madrid, Rayon of the high flying Champions League, flying Bournemouth as well. So there is, there is a, there is a good mix of players. One player of the sort of the outfielders as well that apparently has plenty of wraps coming out of the Brazilian domestic league is the midfielder Matthias Martinelli. They, they're another one 24 year old place with Luminese. Apparently he's, he's also seen as a future star for that team. So, so it's a, it's a very, very interesting and it'll be very, very interesting to see how Ancelotti sort of responds. As I said round of 16 while we were to get there Brazil in Brazil they see the bit of failure and again as well having 11 domestic based players of that squad as well that's a very very interesting move because maybe an attempt to potentially sort of nullify sort of that European influence. You know Carlo Gelotti is very, very well renowned in Europe and so more that Brazilian flair which I think that's going to be something that I know a lot of people, a lot of Brazilian fans here for this series will want. We're coming to see that. I think they want to see that Brazilian flair return because the European style, why I think it's getting its unaware very, very thin.

36:01 I think that's also reflective on where their world ranking is at the moment. Yeah, it's. It's almost maybe an attempt to recapture their identity by naming these domestically based players and hopefully, you know, it doesn't quite work out as well as Carlo wants in this series because we'd love Australia to give him two really fantastic games and maybe even nick a results off off Brazil. That'd be absolutely fantastic in this series. It's going to be a very interesting series, isn't it? I mean Scott, we've still got later rivals coming in so I, I don't particularly expect the game in Townsville to be a, a free flowing attacking masterpiece to you.

I think that first game up in Townsville will be more of a defense, not defensive but more of a stop start sort of an encounter where it's players are still getting over the travel from Europe and South America and everywhere else around the world. And then I think it'll open up at Suncorp Stadium on Tuesday night. That'll probably be the more attack minded, entertaining game of the two given players are still arriving from all over the world so I think that probably will be the case. But there's lots of game for Australia in both games here because it's two different styles of games as well against Brazil and for me it's more. It's not, I'm not worried about what Brazil bring. I just broke down the squad. It is very exciting some of the names they are bringing out here. It's going to be nice to see a proper Brazilian number nine as opposed to Matias Quinya pretending he's number nine. But I'm more worried about what Australia do in this, in these two games and how they, how they go about building their game and taking on a nation like Brazil and whether it's more of a stop start game first up and then more open in the second. I think it's a great opportunity for Australia to take them on and see what we can do. So I'm very excited by it. Yeah, it's a great opportunity for Australia to shake off a bit of that imposter syndrome that I guess we seem to suffer at major tournaments when we're playing the bigger nations. You know, we, we tend to think, question, I think as you made mention earlier Scott, question whether we should be there and, and this is, I think this is the perfect time to play Brazil given that squad and given. Yeah what

Obviously Australia probably aren't at their best and potentially this isn't the best squad we could have Named either depending on what opinions you want to take. But Adam, I just wanted to get your thoughts. I do believe that it's soccer has got exceptional record here at home bar a couple of blemishes trying to game for using qualifier. Let's never speak of Bahrain ever again. Last time we read a socceroos a Socceroos fixtures so let's hope that we're not the jinx. But look in all seriousness as well, they have got a great record here here at home, especially with the Brazilians.

It's a very, very long trip from Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo to to Brisbane and then then the additional flight up to Townsville on Thursday or tomorrow depending when you listen to this and I do think that that may have a factor. I think if Australia could get a good result, I reckon the Townsville game might be the one. I I do believe that probably the the game in Brisbane on Tuesday. I think we will probably see see more of an indication of what Brazil are capable of. But then again this is a highly experimental team that this Brazilian size. So if the socceros can match intensity, learn a few things and play out his skins. Look you, you never, never know.

Despite Brazil being here in the and you know, the brand Brazil and all that, it's very, very important the fans also focus on the Socceroos and that there's some very good young players coming through. They get to David Minsk world class opposition. Also got to worry about what worry less about what Brazil are doing and their rebuilding phase and more worry about what socceroos can do building up to a very, very important Asian cup campaign. Yeah, I think that's a wonderful point to end on actually. Adam, get excited by this wonderful group of socceroos and let's hope that they can build towards an Asian cup where I think we're a genuine chance of getting close to that trophy for the first time since 2015 under Ange on the home soil.
